Community Center Program Attendant

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time Program Attendant position at the Community Center.  This position will assist the Community Center Supervisor to implement and supervise programs and events for the Community Center.  Requires the ability to work a flex schedule, 7 days per week.  Requires some experience working in a recreation setting.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assist the Community Center Supervisor in programming needs and develop new programs for the Community Center.
  • Assist with event planning in city parks and Community Center.
  • Answer phone and handle normal office functions.
  • Develop flyers, registration forms and promotions for programming.
  • Accepts registrations for recreational leagues and programs offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Operate basic office equipment and proficiently use a computer with the installed word processing, database and records management software needed to perform clerical tasks, input necessary records and to retrieve and utilize information.
  • Market programs for the Community Center and its events.
  • Over-see evening and weekend activities as necessary.
  • Move up to 30 pounds for programming and office related tasks.

Eligible applicants must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and be at least 18 years of age.

The starting wage for this position is $10.21 an hour.

Community Center Lead Attendant

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting applications for a part-time Lead Attendant position at the Community Center.  This position will oversee the operation of the Community Center and Marmaduke Community Building, and will perform administrative tasks as assigned by the Community Center Supervisor.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Work with Community Center Supervisor to train and develop staff.
  • Set up meeting rooms and prepare the building for the next day.
  • Ensure clean buildings at all times, either personally or through training staff, keeping the buildings neat at all times.
  • Answer phone and handle normal office functions.
  • Run cash register and Point of Sale System
  • Accepts registrations for recreational leagues, programs and activities offered by the Parks and Recreation Department.
  • Operate basic office equipment and proficiently use a computer with the installed word processing, database and records management software needed to perform clerical tasks, input necessary records and to retrieve and utilize information.
  • Over-see evening and weekend activities as necessary.

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for two (2) Volleyball referees for the 2018 adult co-ed season.

  • Position requires working Sundays & Wednesdays

Firefighter I / Full-Time

The Nevada Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter I.  The starting wage for this position is $28,536 per year. It is a full time position, and includes full benefits such as retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Walton Aquatic Center Managers & Lifeguards

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for the following summer seasonal positions at the Walton Aquatic Center:

On the application, please circle whether you are applying for manager, lifeguard or both.

  • Managers (2 positions) – $8.50 per hour
  • Lifeguards (30 positions) – $8.00 per hour
  • Head Lifeguards (will select from returning lifeguard applicants) – $8.25

Other Aquatic Center positions will be advertised at a later date

  • All positions will be required to work a flexible schedule. Eligible applicants must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Lifeguards and Managers will be required to have their American Red Cross Certification prior to employment.  We are currently compiling information for certification courses in the area to be made available during the interview process.
  • For those previously certified, check your certification’s expiration date.  Lifeguard certification is only valid for two (2) years, and we are also working on information about recertification courses to be available during the interview process.
  • Interviews will start around the first week of February.
