Firefighter

The Nevada Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter I.  The starting wage for this position is $29,718 per year. It is a full time position, and includes full benefits such as retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Eligible applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a valid Missouri driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.  Minimum certifications required include Missouri Firefighter I or other IFSAC Firefighter I Certification, Firefighter II Certification, and live within or relocate to a five-mile radius of the Nevada Fire Station.

Prefer applicant to already be certified, but can train if necessary.

Assistant Camp Counselors / Seasonal

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for Assistant Camp Counselors for the 2020 Summer Day Camp.  Graduation from High School or the equivalent and at least 18 years of age or older is required.

Essential job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assist Lead Camp Counselor with implementing daily activities
  • Supervisor campers
  • Greet campers and parents
  • Ensure campers are ready for the day
  • Assist in maintaining daily records for your assigned Summer Day Camp group
  • Answer daily activity questions for parents
  • Move up to 30 pounds for programming and office related tasks
  • Ensure all Federal, State, and Local Guidelines are followed at all times

Must have a current state required physical prior to employment (paid by applicant).

Must be able to pass a state required background check (paid by applicant then reimbursed by employer).

Must be able to obtain Adult/Child CPR and First Aid Red Cross Certification (paid by employer).

Season runs May 26th through August 14th.  Camp is Monday through Friday.

The wage for this position is $9.50 an hour.

Lead Camp Counselor / Part-Time

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for a part-time Lead Camp Counselor for the After School and Summer Day Camps.  Graduation from High School or the equivalent and a valid driver’s license is required.  Must be 18 years of age or older.  Experience working with school age students and planning/implementing activities for children required.  Children ages run 5-12 years of age.

Lifeguards  /  Seasonal

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for Lifeguard positions at the Walton Aquatic Center:

  • All positions will be required to work a flexible schedule
  • Eligible applicants must be at least 15 years of age for Lifeguard positions
  • Lifeguards and Managers will be required to have their American Red Cross Certification prior to employment
  • For those previously certified, check your certification’s expiration date.  Lifeguard certification is only valid for two (2) years, and we are also working on information about re-certification courses to be available during the interview process.

Position pays $9.50 an hour

Police Officer

The City of Nevada Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  The starting wage for this position is $33,912 per year. It is a full time position, and includes full benefits such as retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.  The Police Department also participates in a take-home vehicle program for its officers.

Eligible applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a valid Missouri driver’s license, should be at least 21 years of age, P.O.S.T certified by the State of Missouri, and successfully pass a background investigation.

This position requires residency to be within 35 miles of the police department.
