Baseball/Softball Umpires

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for umpires for the 2022 summer baseball/softball season. Umpires will officiate youth baseball/softball games.  Games are held primarily on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Games will start in May and run through the end of June.

  • Must have general knowledge of the game
  • Previous officiating experience preferred but not required
  • All games will be during week nights
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years old
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule

Umpires will work with the following age divisions:

  • T-ball – kindergarten students
  • 1st/2nd grade boys and girls coach pitch

Softball may be added with games on Thursdays.

Pay ranges from $10-$12 per game, depending on age groups.

Twin Lakes Clubhouse Attendant (Golf Course)

The City of Nevada Parks and Recreation Department is currently accepting job applications for part-time position of Twin Lakes Clubhouse Attendant.  This position assists the manager with all duties related to the Clubhouse.  Eligible applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, some experience working in a recreational area, and be at least 21 years of age.

Applicants must be able to work a variable schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Some of the duties of this position include:

  • Runs the cash register, restocks shelves, completes basic bookwork, assists in the pro shop, and works with the public
  • Assists manager with tournament operations

Account Clerk – Finance

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for a full time Account Clerk I.

Requirements include: High school diploma or the equivalent, 1+ years’ experience performing clerical accounting work, handling monies and customer service.

This position reports to the Accounting Technician.

Some of the essential functions of this position include:

  • Proficiency in basic accounting functions and software programs
  • Frequent interaction with the public pertaining to a variety of services and programs provided by the City
  • Handle cash with accuracy
  • Temporarily assume basic duties of billing in the absence of the Accounting Technician

Facilities Maintenance Laborer

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for a full time Facilities Maintenance Laborer.  Primary duties are comprised of performing skilled and semi-skilled work in constructing and maintenance of City facilities.  Qualifications include graduate from high school or G.E.D. equivalent, two years’ experience in construction and maintenance activities, and ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.

This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

Some of the essential functions of this position include:

  • Perform repairs on buildings and other facilities, including minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and telecommunications repairs.
  • Assist in construction and remodeling projects
  • Assist in installation and repair of telecommunications equipment including telephones, cabling (including fiber optic cable), video cameras and equipment, and mobile radio equipment.
  • Backup Public Transportation Driver

Seasonal Parks Grounds Maintenance Laborers

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is currently accepting job applications for seasonal part-time positions of Parks Grounds Maintenance Laborers.  Eligible applicants must possess a valid driver’s license and be at least 18 years of age.

Applicants should be able to work a variable schedule, including some weekends and holidays.

Some of the duties of this position include but are not limited to:

  • Operate mowers, trimmers and other motorized equipment for the purpose of mowing and trimming the Twin Lakes golf course and some recreational facilities including the Community Center and Walton Aquatic Center.
  • Cleans grounds and keeps buildings and equipment located on city property in good and safe working conditions
  • Assists with minor upkeep and repairs to equipment, mower blades and hand tools
  • Performs minor construction and repair projects on park grounds

Lt. Equipment Operator

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for Light Equipment Operators for construction of the water distribution and sewer collection systems and street work.

The applicants must be able to operate light equipment, (and heavy equipment when needed), perform the skilled and semi-skilled labor associated with the job requirements and perform other job functions as required. Job duties include but are not restricted to:

  • Perform semi-skilled to skilled work with skid steer, trencher, jackhammer, compactor, compressor, and other equipment of comparable size
  • Operate heavy and other equipment calling for higher levels of skill as required and at the supervisor’s discretion
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, climb, twist, kneel and reach both to ground level and overhead; lifts and carries up to 100 pounds and /or pushes up to 150 pounds as required
  • Assist in the construction of the water distribution system and sewer collection system; and repairing, installation, and maintenance of the City streets
  • Ability to work effectively with supervisors, employees and the public
  • May be required to work weekends or a variety of shifts, subject to call out on emergencies as needed 24 hours a day-year round, and may be on call as directed by the Field Operations Manager
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), class B with air brakes and tanker endorsement, from the State of Missouri, or the ability to obtain one within a year of hire date
