Lifeguard

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for the following summer seasonal positions at the Walton Aquatic Center:

  • Lifeguards (30 positions) – $8.00 per hour
  • Head Lifeguards (will select from returning lifeguard applicants) – $8.25

Other Aquatic Center positions will be advertised at a later date

  • All positions will be required to work a flexible schedule. Eligible applicants must be at least 15 years of age.
  • Lifeguards and Managers will be required to have their American Red Cross Certification prior to employment.  We are currently compiling information for certification courses in the area to be made available during the interview process.
  • For those previously certified, check your certification’s expiration date.  Lifeguard certification is only valid for two (2) years, and we are also working on information about recertification courses to be available during the interview process.

Head Camp Counselor / Community Center

The City of Nevada Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for one (1) Head Camp Counselor for the 2018 Summer Day Camp.  Graduation from High School or the equivalent and a valid driver’s license is required.

  • Assist Community Center Supervisor with implementing daily activities
  • Supervisor camp counselors and campers
  • Greet campers and parents
  • Ensure Camp Counselors are ready for the day
  • Maintain records for the Summer Day Camp
  • Ensuring age appropriate activities are planned and implemented
  • Point of contact for parent’s questions and concerns for Summer Day Camp
  • Operate basic office equipment and proficiently use a computer with the installed word processing, database and records management software needed to perform clerical tasks, input necessary records and to retrieve and utilize information
  • Move up to 30 pounds for programming and office related tasks

Season runs May 29th through July 20th, with an option for 3 additional weeks.  Camp is Monday through Friday.

The wage for this position is $9.00 an hour.

Softball/Baseball Umpire

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for umpires for the 2018 summer baseball/softball season. Umpires will officiate youth baseball/softball and adult softball games.

  • Must have general knowledge of the game
  • Previous officiating experience preferred but not required
  • All games will be during week nights
  • Applicants must be at least 15 years old
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule

Umpires will work with the following age divisions:

  • Bitty ball – 3 year olds
  • Blast ball – Pre-kindergarten students
  • T-ball – kindergarten students
  • 1st/2nd grade boys and girls coach pitch
  • 3rd-5th grade girls softball
  • 6th-9th grade girls softball
  • Adult softball

Pay ranges from $10-$20 per game, depending on age groups.

Firefighter I / Full-time

The Nevada Fire Department is now accepting applications for the position of Firefighter I.  The starting wage for this position is $28,536 per year. It is a full time position, and includes full benefits such as retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.

Eligible applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a valid Missouri driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.  Minimum certifications required include Missouri Firefighter I or other IFSAC Firefighter I Certification, Firefighter II Certification, and live within or relocate to a five-mile radius of the Nevada Fire Station.

Police Officer

The City of Nevada Police Department is now accepting applications for the position of Police Officer.  The starting wage for this position is $32,564 per year. It is a full time position, and includes full benefits such as retirement, health, dental, vision and life insurance as well as paid holidays, vacation and sick leave.  The Police Department also participates in a take-home vehicle program for its officers.

Eligible applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent, a valid Missouri driver’s license, should be at least 21 years of age, P.O.S.T certified by the State of Missouri, and successfully pass a background investigation.

This position requires residency to be within 35 miles of the police department.
