Animal Shelter Assistant / Part-Time

The City of Nevada is currently accepting job applications for a part-time position of Animal Shelter Assistant.  Eligible applicants must possess a high school diploma or the equivalent and be at least 18 years of age.  Applicants to be considered should also have experience in the handling and care of domestic and non-domestic animals and good verbal and written communication skills.

Some of the duties of this position include:

  • Care and feeding of animals
  • Maintenance of animal shelter, equipment and facilities

Code Enforcement Officer

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for a part-time Code Enforcement Officer.  This position assists in the code enforcement for the City of Nevada.

Baseball/Softball Umpires

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for umpires for the 2021 summer baseball/softball season. Umpires will officiate youth baseball/softball games. Games are held primarily on Tuesdays with make-ups on Thursdays.  Practices in May and games start June 1st and run through July 6th.

  • Must have general knowledge of the game
  • Previous officiating experience preferred but not required
  • All games will be during week nights
  • Applicants must be at least 15 years old
  • Must have own transportation
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule

Umpires will work with the following age divisions:

  • T-ball Prep 1 – 3 yr olds /  Camp is May 24-27th
  • T-ball Prep 2 – 4 yr olds /  Camp is May 24-27th

  • 1st/2nd grade boys and girls coach pitch

Pay ranges from $10-$12 per game, depending on age groups.

Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I

The City of Nevada is currently accepting applications for an Operator 1 position at our Wastewater Treatment Plant.  The primary responsibility as Operator is for sewage treatment at the plant. Individual must possess a valid Class B Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake endorsement or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.  Must have or be able to obtain a Class “D” Wastewater Operators Certification within the first year of employment.

Some duties of this position include:

  • Operate or check the automatic operations of pumps and treatment plant equipment.
  • Regulates the flow through the treatment plant
  • Sets time clocks and starts control system for pumping stations
  • Maintains operating logs, records and charts, and time sheets
  • Cleans pumps, motors, and other related equipment according to schedule
  • Makes minor and major repairs and adjustments to operating equipment both in the plant proper and pumping stations
  • Performs laboratory testing of wastewater and sampling
  • Hauls sludge and takes soil samples
  • Attends to the supply of chemicals needed in the treatment process
  • Moves objects in excess of100 pounds
  • Move to depths of up to 30 ft. for purposes of cleaning and maintenance
  • Perform various tasks in confined spaces

Meter Reader/Lt. Equipment Operator

We are looking for a detail oriented individual with the ability to perform skilled and/or semi-skilled work in connection with the installation, repair, and maintenance of the complete water distribution system. Eligible applicants must possess a high-school diploma or equivalent, and have possession of a valid Class B or Missouri Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tanker endorsement, or the ability to obtain one within the first year of employment.

  • Reads water meters assigned to the route scheduled.
  • Makes sure the equipment is operating properly.
  • Reports problems so repairs can be made.
  • Performs the duties of the Service Person when necessary.

  • Performs semi–skilled and/or skilled work with skid steer, trencher, jack hammer, compactor, compressor, and other equipment of comparable size.

Seasonal Grounds Maintenance
