The Board of Zoning Adjustment was established in November 1979 by Ordinance No. 3237, Article V, Section 5.1 of the City Charter.
Goals & Duties
The Board of Zoning shall hear and decide appeals alleging error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official. When there are practical difficulties or unnecessary hardships in the way of carrying out, varying, or modifying the application of any of the regulations or provisions in the use of construction or alteration of buildings or structures or the use of land shall be observed, public safety and welfare secured and justice done. The board shall consist of five members, serving a 5-year term. The board shall elect its own chairman who shall serve for one year.
