Overview

The Fair Housing Board was established in November of 1979 by Ordinance Number 3237, under the direction of the City Charter Article IX, Section 2-38. 

Goals & Duties

The fair housing board will be made up of five members on staggered three-year terms. They will receive all complaints initiated under Chapter 39, investigate the same, notify the person against whom the complaint is made of the complaint and the person aggrieved, and attempt to eliminate any alleged discriminatory practice by conference and conciliation. Any complaints that are found by a majority of the board to be well-founded violations of chapter 39 which are not eliminated by conference and conciliation, will be referred to the city prosecutor for review and, if appropriate, further action.
